Uncovering the Heart of Baseball: A Lifelong Journey Through Strikes, Homeruns, and Unforgettable Moments
My Baseball Story
Living Baseball, One Pitch at a Time.
Hello there! I’m David Lee, the voice and heart behind eMobilityQuest.com. My journey with baseball started over 30 years ago when I attended my first game, and it quickly blossomed into a passionate love affair that has permeated every aspect of my life.
From collecting boxscores, team schedules, and stats leaders, to immersing myself in baseball literature like Moneyball – a book I can read again and again – I’ve consumed all things baseball. I’ve watched games in countries like the USA, Canada, Japan, Korea, and Taiwan, enriching my understanding of the sport’s international nuances. This global perspective, I believe, gives me a unique lens through which to analyze and discuss baseball.
My love for baseball even led me to follow the career of Ichiro, who became my baseball idol, since his very early days in Japan, culminating in a heartfelt moment during his last game, which, I confess, led to some manly tears.
But it’s not just about watching and reading. As a young boy, I played pickup baseball, taking up almost all positions but always ending up as the catcher – not minding the occasional hit by the ball. Of course, I’ve tried and copied Ichiro’s hitting stand and even changed my hitting from right to left side. Just so I could try and see what it’s like to be like him. My love for the game carried over to my teens, where I loved playing the shortstop in my school’s organized baseball team. I grew up with baseball.

My passion for baseball was kindled by the accidentally following baseball in the 1992 Olympics, fanned into flame by Joe Carter’s iconic home run in the ’93 World Series, and reached its zenith during the unforgettable Shohei vs Trout match in the 2023 World Baseball Classic (WBC). This website is a tribute to the sport, chronicling its storied past, analyzing its vibrant present, and forecasting its promising future.
Various players have deeply influenced my affection for the game. The legendary Japanese slugger, Sadaharu Oh, and the steadfast Mariners right fielder, Jay Buhner (an unconventional choice, I concede), have left indelible impressions. Then there’s Hideo Nomo, whose fascinating ‘tornado‘ pitching style I have followed since his high school days in Japan and into his time pitching against my favorite Japan 90’s dynasty, Seibu Lions. I was the kid who had the poster of Nomo’s tornado pitching pose on the wall of my room. The exhilaration Mike Piazza brought to every game and the mastery of control and precision exhibited by Greg Maddux further enrich my love for this sport.

From chanting “Ichiro” in the Safeco Field to Jeter’s farewell season, from the minor league Vancouver Canadians team in QE Park in Vancouver to Adrian Beltre breakout in Dodger Stadium – these are the snapshots of history I hope to share with you through my blogs.

I also have a soft spot for baseball simulation games like Out of the Park (OOTP), probably the nerdiest game of all time aka my guilty pleasure since its very first version over 20 years ago, and eBaseball Powerful Pro Baseball, previously known as Jikkyō Powerful Pro Yakyū. They feed my love for baseball even in the digital realm, and keep my dream alive – the dream that began with managing a professional baseball team and has now evolved into a desire to own one.

As the creator of eMobilityQuest.com, my deep-seated love for baseball shapes the content of the site. It’s my hope to provide a space for fellow baseball enthusiasts, a hub where emotional narratives and data-driven perspectives intertwine.
Whether it’s the thrill of the game, the beauty of the data, or the desire to own a team, I believe we all have our personal reasons for loving baseball. Let’s share and explore these together, one post at a time.
